About Me

What I Believe
. . . is that the human body has everything it needs to be vital and balanced. Sometimes the body becomes overwhelmed with stress (emotional or physical), trauma, or a lack of attention. I also believe in the mind-body connection – that our thoughts, feelings and beliefs influence our bodies. Research* (references below) has shown that our emotions and beliefs influence our very molecules.

My Role in Your Process
. . . is to be a “facilitator” for the body to find its health. I love this role of facilitator! It is an honor to participate as a partner with you, in the process of discovering what your body needs to be balanced and pain-free. Every time you arrive for massage, your body is different than the last time you were in. Therefore, every massage is different, and is co-created by communication between you, me and your body. While I apply a wide variety of modalities** (listed below) we listen to the body, and observe it in stillness and in motion.

Discovering my Passion for Massage
I suffered from severe sciatica for 12 years. The combination of receiving chiropractic care, acupuncture and massage therapy finally helped me eliminate my chronic sciatica. I realized that massage therapy not only helped me become pain-free, but also created a greater sense of relationship with my body – a sense of “coming home”. In 1994, while considering a career change from 17 years as a dietitian in university food service, I received a massage that was “the best I ever experienced.” That massage therapist had just opened the first massage school licensed in the state of Kansas. It was a no-brainer – I became a massage therapist, a perpetual student of massage, then an instructor, Director of Education and co-owner of BMSI Institute, the massage school from which I graduated.
